McKenzie Friend

You Don't Have to Face Court Alone

A McKenzie Friend is a person who accompanies and supports a litigant in person during court proceedings. The right to have a McKenzie Friend is established in common law and supported by the Practice Direction issued by the judiciary of England and Wales.

You do not need the court's permission to bring a McKenzie Friend. I sit beside you, take notes, help you organise your papers and quietly assist you throughout the hearing.

Proceedings supported: Private children, enforcement, housing, divorce and financial remedy hearings.

What I can do
  • Attend hearings and sit beside you in court
  • Take detailed notes throughout the proceedings
  • Quietly assist you to follow what is happening
  • Help you organise your documents and bundle
  • Provide calm support in a stressful environment
What I cannot do
  • Speak in court without the judge's express permission
  • Act as your legal representative
  • Conduct litigation on your behalf

About Nevori

Professional Support With a Personal Approach

My name is Karolina Czmoch. I am the founder of Nevori Litigant Services, a document preparation and McKenzie Friend service supporting litigants in person across London and the Home Counties from our base in Watford.

I hold a Certificate of Higher Education in Law and Legal Practice from Wrexham University (2025), giving me a solid grounding in legal principles, court procedure and the practical application of law in England and Wales.

I am fluent in both English and Polish, which means I can provide the full range of services to Polish-speaking clients who may face additional barriers when navigating the English legal system.

My background in law and psychology gives me a precise but empathetic approach. I understand that people who come to me are often dealing with some of the most stressful situations of their lives. My role is to make the documentation side of that process as professional, clear and manageable as possible.
